About 6 months ago I opened a package of white Makin’s Clay® and left it unwraped for the air to get at it. Well it did what I wanted it to do, turned into a hard mass of clay. So I carved out a heart shape, drilled a hole in the middle, did a little more carving, then soldered a copper band around the edges. This was an experiment to prove that you can do almost anything with this cool medium, you can thin it and make it into a “paint”, and you can also carve it like wood! How cool is that?

What an honor to receive this certification from Makin’s Clay®…I was so surprised when it arrived in the mail. Thank you to our team leader Cindi McGee for coaching me and for your support the past three years, what a ride, and to Tom and Anne Voltz, owners of Makin’s Clay®. I think year 4 of the Design Team will be our best ever! If you have never tried Makin’s Clay® or any of their awesome products you are missing out. In the words of an old TV commercial: “Try it, you’ll like it!”

The CreateAlong.com box for February had a music theme. I made a little guitar using their acrylic stamp with a musical motif for texture on the back, and the Notes Magic Transfer Paper on the neck of the guitar. I also added a couple of the Musical Note Sequins on the front. I painted the guitar with Extreme Sheen paint by DecoArt®. Strings were made from Fireline® Jewelry Thread. Check out CreateAlong.com where you will find a plethora of cool supplies!

For my March Makin’s Clay® project, I designed a small piece to highlight the fact that we are all united regardless of the color of our skin. My wife and I watch the View and after some thought I decided to mail the piece to Whoopi, a woman I respect. She was so gracious and mailed me a signed copy of her book: IS IT JUST ME? Head on over to: Makinsclayblog.blogspot.com for complete instructions!

I used Sculpey® Souffle to make this leaf pendant and colored it with mica powders.
