    Just Steampunk! Volume 1 2011

You light up my worn heart…

I made this polymer clay heart during the workshop with Christi Friesen and used the Swellegant coating to “age” the piece.  There is a tiny light bulb in the center and the opening is covered with mica. Karen, at INK ABOUT IT, was given this piece…she loves funky jewelry.  As summer is drawing to an end, I will be making more pieces and spending more time in my studio.

Christi Friesen 2012

Well here they are…the polymer clay pieces I made at the Christi Friesen workshop a few weeks ago.  We learned how to use a new product Christi  has called SWELLEGANT.  It is a metal coating that was applied to the clay, then top with a patina and sealed.  The mermaid is a magnet that I brought to the Cape, the other pieces are going to family members and the gnome was an experiment I was doing for a future project.  We had a blast and learned a lot of new techniques.  Christi stopped at my home after to check out my studio prior to her going to her next workshop.  Christi teaches internationally and has author many books on polymer clay.  It was also nice reconnecting with the friends I made at last years workshop!

Darbella Studios August 2012

OK, we all look rather silly…but, a good time was had by all in Hollis NH at Darbella Studios.  Darleen Bellan, an HGTV crafter, hosted a Christi Friesen workshop where we explored  metal coatings applied to polymer clay.  Christi was her usual bubbly self and got us all motivated. Check out Darleen at Darbella Designs: [link to the right] and look for future classes…you won’t be disappointed!  Thanks Darleen for your hospitality!

Christi Friesen Workshop…

It’s finally here…Christi Friesens 2012 workshop in Hollis NH at Darbella Studios!  Today from 5 PM until 10 PM  and Saturday from 10 AM till 4 PM we will be creating wonderful pieces of art with an extremely talented woman. Christi teaches world-wide and has authored a dozen books.    Her classes are filled with laughter, creativity, and a sharing of experiences.   So California girl, bring it on…I am ready!!!  Next week I will post pictures of the pieces I made.  Check out Christi’s blog…there’s a link to it to the right…CFOriginals.
