All Geared UpMade this silly little bird last week.  Premo polymer clay with copper wire tail and feet…screws and watch gears, glass eyes and mica powders added for nice color.  How tweet it is!!!!

Plaque at CapeBrought the plaque I made at the Laurie Mika class to the Cape…took this picture with my phone, I do not take good pictures like Jan does.

ByThe SeaI made this plaque Friday at the Laurie Mike class…I layered textured polymer clay pieces that were painted and highlighted with mica powders and added some charms.  The pieces were then glued onto a painted surface that I stamped.

The many faces of LibertyHere’s the totem I made at Laurie Mika’s class last Saturday…and, as usual, the class was awesome!  Laurie Mika lives in California.  She is a published mixed media artist who travels here is the USA and in other countries teaching her mosaic techniques. The totem is made of polymer clay and has various charms and other inclusions…paint and mica powders highlight the pieces. Tomorrow I will post the “quilt” pieces I made during Friday’s class. Everyone had a great time…Laurie is so relaxed and can communicate her techniques with ease, her teaching skills are spot on.  Thanks Laurie for 14 hours of fun!

Laurie Mika 2013I am exhausted after 14 hours of class…but, it was awesome!  Laurie is a great instructor, learned some really cool new techniques and after I get my two projects assembled I will post a picture of them.  Was nice seeing some old friends from 5 years ago when we took a class from Laurie at Absolutely Everything in Topsfield MA.

TOP DOG at the CAPE…

CAPE JULY 2013 #4Kinzee was taking a little stroll around the cottage this weekend checking out the flowers and just being top dog…she is very good at that!!!CAPE JULY 2013 #3  She especially likes the hydrangea and always takes time to smell the flowers, that is something we should all do.  Jan really took some great pictures with her iPhone.

Lighthouse  I made this lighthouse about 15 years ago…it is just a little over 2 feet tall, 26 1/2″ to be exact.  I cut a bunch of circles out of pine, each one being a little smaller in diameter…I then pegged and glued them together. Used a wood rasp to get the edges off and used copper wire to band it together.  I carved the balusters at the top, and made the light and roof out of polymer clay.  We are thinking of bringing it to the cottage at the Cape…right now it sits in our library.
