SALLY’S MOM…

2015 Sally's MomThis pendant was made for my friend Sally…she was my ambulance director when I was an EMT on the Shirley Ambulance service.  I used Sculpey’s Souffle™ polymer clay, textured the front with a Makin’s® Texture sheet called “Coils”, added numerous inclusions and finished the piece with mica powders. Hope you like it Sally!

ZIP ME UP AND CALL ME ESKA…

2015 Zip me up and call me EskaFirst I want to thank Marie Segal for the zipper mold…first time I used it, and I LOVE it! I made this heart pendant, with Souffle™ polymer clay, for my new housekeeper’s daughter who loves steampunk.  I used an old watch face, several gears, and a couple of bead caps for inclusions.  Then the entire piece was dusted with mica powders and sealed with PYM

MAKIN’S TREE OF LIFE…

2015 MakinsTreeThis is what I have been working on all week…my Makin’s Clay® Tree of Life.  First I made the armature of foil, aluminum and brass strips…covered that with Rigid Wrap, then I added Makin’s Clay® that I made into a liquid. There’s a bird’s nest  in the crook of a limb made with extruded clay and a tiny bluebird in the nest with three little eggs, all made with Makin’s Clay®  The leaves are clay with copper on top and words embossed onto the metal.  The tiny door has a brass door knob and four little windows. The tree queen face is molded from clay. There’s no end to the possibilities of creating with Makin’s Clay®…try it, you’ll like it!

HEART TIME…

2015 Heart timeThis heart pendant was made with Makin’s Clay®…the inclusions are several watch hands, some gears, and ball chain surround the heart.  I textured the clay with a Kor Tool roller that gave it some nice texture. Makin’s Clay® is very light weight which makes it an ideal medium for a pendant.

PETAL POWER…

IMG_3465Petal power is in gear today with this flower pendant.  I used Makin’s Clay® for the flower and leaves…then I painted both with Pebeo paints. Go to makinsclayblog.blogstop.com for complete instructions on how you too can create with this versatile medium!

FAUCET PLANT DECORATION…

2015 Water Drop Bird framedHere’s another fun Makin’s Clay® project. I used several techniques…I added paint to white raw clay to get the blue for the bird, made an armature of foil and plaster over the brass rod then covered that with liquid clay and finished the faucet with rolled out clay that was then painted with metal paint. I also extruded some clay using the Makin’s Clay Extruder® to the end of the faucet giving the appearance of treads to attach a hose. If you look close you can see the crystal water drop dripping from the spigot. Anything is possible using Makin’s Clay® and your imagination!

MAKIN’S CLAY AD IN POLYMER CAFE

Makins ADHere’s a picture of an ad for Makin’s Clay® in the latest issue of Polymer Cafe. Fellow Design Team member Irit Shalom and myself have a piece of our work displayed in the ad.  If you have never tried Makin’s Clay® you should.  It is versatile, non toxic and a fun air dry polymer clay. Go to Makinsclayblog.blogspot.com for instructions on how to make a myriad of projects!
